Carena serves as the Human Capital Strategic Advisor and leads the Human Resources Division. She manages compliance, recruiting, employee relations, training, performance management, and comp/benefits. Her responsibilities include identifying, developing, implementing long-range strategic HR goals and policy development and enforcement.

What did you do before joining Horizon Strategies?

Immediately before my arrival to Horizon Strategies, I worked for a Fortune 50 retailer managing the initial operation and implementation of a new Employee Referral Program. My HR career, however, extends beyond the Talent Acquisition function within the HR body of knowledge. My previous experiences include training/development, employee relations, policy administration, performance management, and compliance.  My passion is serving people, which is what drew me to Human Resources 15 years ago. Prior to finding my niche in HR, I worked for another Fortune 50 in the banking industry managing front-end operations. Today, I am excited to join the Horizon team to bring my corporate experiences to the small-business sector of government contracting.
