Fort Carson, CO (June 8, 2021) – Horizon Strategies manages a distributed workforce in over 22 U.S. states and territories, including a five-person team within the Veterans Affairs’ Transition Assistance Program (VA TAP) at Fort Carson, Colorado. This site, led by Michael Kilburn, provides vital sustainment support for transitioning service members in the Fort Carson area. Advisors on this program deliver the mandatory, full-day VA Benefits and Services briefings to 100% of eligible transitioning service members, dependents, caregivers, survivors, and veterans. All VA TAP-supported events have a common goal: to ensure service members are informed on, and connected to, the VA benefits that apply to their specific situation. Last week, Horizon Strategies’ Director of Operations, Savannah Ott, visited one of the teams at the Fort Carson VA TAP.
The Fort Carson VA TAP office has been consistently commended for being a dependable and talented team. Each member of the team, five in total, is either a veteran or a military spouse. “It was a privilege to recruit and hire this exceptional team during our transition of the contract in November. Due to COVID, all of our interviews were virtual. Meeting this team in person for the first time was an honor and I’ll be honest- fun! They are a competent and charismatic team.” says Ott.
Savannah, herself an Army Veteran, also visited our partners at the Fort Carson USO-Colorado. Last month, Horizon Strategies sponsored the USO-Colorado’s Military Spouse Appreciation Day in Colorado Springs. “During our transition of the VA TAP contract last fall, the USO-Colorado team proved vital in recruiting veterans and military spouses to apply for these positions. Ron Kriete, Manager of the Pathfinder Transition Program, has been a phenomenal resource for us.”
