VETERANS AFFAIRS TRANSITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (VA TAP) BENEFITS ADVISORS GRADUATE NEW HIRE TRAINING

Washington, DC (February 13, 2023) Congratulations to our Veterans Affairs Transition Assistance Program (VA TAP) New Hire Training graduates (from left to right): Premier Gaston, Charlie Quintanilla, and Jessica Morthole. The training took place in Washington, D.C. from January 30 – February 10, 2023. The New Hire Training consists of classroom and small group instruction on VA benefits information and facilitation skills.

After graduation, the advisors return to their home station and continue training to perfect their craft through coaching and mentoring sessions.  The VA Benefits and Services Course is a 6.5-hour presentation on the benefits and services that servicemembers, veterans, their families, and eligible caretakers could have available due to their military service.  VA Benefits Advisors also provide individual support to answer questions about benefits, and in some cases, assist in applying for those benefits.

Premier, a US Army veteran, will serve as a Benefits Advisor at the Fort Riley location. She has experience working in the Department of Labor and facilitating employment workshops. She was drawn to the VA TAP program by her admiration for everything they do to support service members.

Charlie retired from the Army after 27 years of service and will be joining the team at Fort Carson. He is most looking forward to the one-on-one sessions with the service members.

Jessica Morthole will be the Site Lead at Whiteman Air Force Base. She has a background in education, contracting, administration, and a graduate degree in law. She enjoys helping people and connecting people with the benefits they are entitled to.

We are looking forward to seeing the impact these professionals make on the veteran community!
