Wright-Patterson AFB, OH (April 5, 2023) – Tyrhonda “Ty” Coleman is a Veterans Affairs Transition Assistance Program (VA TAP) Benefits Advisor known for her dedication to and compassion for servicemembers separating and retiring from the military. Recently, a dual military couple retiring after more than 25 years of service, contacted Ty’s supervisor to say that she did an amazing job facilitating the VA’s Benefits and Services brief. They were grateful that Ty walked them through the transition process step-by-step and then invited them to a personalized counseling session to help ease the anxiety of the transition process.
Ty has led the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base VA TAP team as the Site Lead for the last four years. To transitioning servicemembers and their families, she is a beacon of positivity and warmth that gets the fist-bumps and high-fives for her commitment to others. Thousands of servicemembers, veterans, and family members appreciate Ty for her exceptional work in helping them plan for the future. Horizon Strategies is proud of the hard work and dedication that Ty Coleman is exuding at Wright-Patterson AFB!
In close partnership with the Veteran’s Administration (VA) and the CALIBRE Systems team, Horizon Strategies provides vital TAP sustainment support for transitioning service members across 14 military installations in the Mid-West Region. Advisors on this program deliver the mandatory, full-day VA Benefits and Services briefings to 100% of eligible transitioning service members and, on a space available basis, to dependents, caregivers, survivors, and veterans. The scope of services includes in-person, one-on-one and classroom briefings and on-going briefer training and evaluation. All VA TAP-supported events have a common goal: to ensure service members are informed on, and connected to, the VA benefits that apply to their specific situation.
