Winston-Salem, NC (April 10, 2023) – Horizon Strategies would like to congratulate our Director of Business Development and Capture, Colonel Leigh Friedel, on her retirement from the US Army. Leigh served 25 years as an Engineer Officer including on active duty and in the Army Reserve.
Leigh commissioned in 1998 upon graduating from the University of Alabama. On active duty, Leigh was stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI, deployed to Timor Leste with US Support Group to East Timor in 1999, and deployed to Kosrae, Micronesia as Civic Action Team Commander from 2001-2002. She completed a tour in Iraq from 2003-2004 and two tours in Afghanistan from 2008-2009 and 2012.
For the last 10 years of Leigh’s career, her assignments include Deputy Commander, Contingency Response Unit, 416th Theater Engineer Command; Battalion Commander; and Deputy Commander for Reserve Affairs, US Army Corps of Engineers, North Atlantic Division. She attended Senior Service College at the National Defense University. Leigh joined the Horizon Strategies team as our Director of Business Development and Capture in July 2020.
